The Alliance of Genome Resources: Uniting Data and Tools for Biological Discovery

Alliance of Genome Resources

The Alliance of Genome Resources brings together leading data sources and tools to support research and education in biology. Launched in 2016, the Alliance aims to:

  • Integrate shared data from diverse model organisms, providing a more comprehensive view of biological processes.
  • Standardize data models and interfaces for seamless user experience across different resources.
  • Unify outreach efforts to researchers, educators, and the public, promoting awareness and understanding of biological research.

The members include the Gene Ontology Consortium and seven model organism databases:

  • Saccharomyces Genome Database (Saccharomyces cerevisiae)
  • WormBase (Caenorhabditis elegans)
  • FlyBase (Drosophila melanogaster)
  • ZFIN (Danio rerio)
  • Mouse Genome Database
  • Rat Genome Database
  • Xenbase (Xenopus laevis and Xenopus tropicalis)

By working together, these resources will:

  • Maintain and enhance existing data, tools, and community support.
  • Develop new tools collaboratively and efficiently.
  • Enable easy-to-use cross-organism queries for deeper insights.
  • Expand the Alliance to encompass additional resources, benefiting all biologists.

Funding is from the US National Institutes of Health, National Human Genome Research Institute.
